MRCPCH AKP exam booking alert: Key dates & deadlines

 Here is a gentle reminder for all aspiring paediatricians: the MRCPCH AKP diet 3 exam booking opens on July 1st. The MRCPCH theory examinations are offered three times a year, giving you the flexibility to schedule your exams strategically.

Here is a quick breakdown of the application deadline for the upcoming MRCPCH AKP exam date.

Important dates to note

Exam date: Wednesday 18 September 2024

Applications open: From July 1, 2024 (09:30 UK time)

July 1- UK&ROI online invigilation, Overseas online invigilation, UAE, Egypt, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar

July 2 – India, Pakistan

July 3 – UK&ROI test centres, Singapore

Applications close: (all at 16:00 UK time)

Friday 5 July 2024 – Online invigilation (UK and overseas)

Thursday 11 July 2024 – Test centres (UK and overseas)

Exam pattern

The MRCPCH examination consists of three theory exams and one clinical exam.

MRCPCH Theory exams are,

• FOP (Foundation of Practice)
• TAS (Theory and Science)

FOP and TAS are held on the same day, in the morning and afternoon respectively.

• AKP (Applied Knowledge in Practice)

Theory examinations can be taken in any order and are non-sequential. Candidates must pass the three theory examinations before they can sit the MRCPCH clinical examination, the final part.

Eligibility criteria

 The eligibility criteria to register for the theory exams are:

• Candidates must have a valid primary medical qualification from a registered institution.
• The primary medical qualification must be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) of the United Kingdom or recognised by the GMC in the case of overseas institutions.
