The Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP) is a written component of the MRCPCH examination that tests clinical knowledge and its application in real paediatric scenarios. It is a key milestone for doctors working towards full MRCPCH certification.
The course offers structured preparation across all AKP examination domains — including applied clinical knowledge, data interpretation, and evidence-based decision making — fully aligned with the current RCPCH curriculum.
Sessions are delivered by MRCPCH-qualified clinicians and experienced educators with a strong record of guiding candidates to success in the AKP examination.
Yes. The StudyMRCPCH AKP course is fully online, giving candidates across India, the Middle East, and beyond the flexibility to prepare alongside live teaching sessions and recorded content.
Your learning milestones and performance data are recorded through the StudyMRCPCH e-portfolio, helping you and your mentors identify strengths and focus areas throughout your preparation.

The Membership of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health is a prestigious PG certification from the RCPCH, the governing body of Pediatricians in the UK. Recognised worldwide as a leader in Child Healthcare, their coveted certification is considered a stepping stone for global medical practice, as well as higher specialty training, etc. It consists of three theory papers and a final Clinical Examination test. The certification is divided into MRCPCH Foundation of Practice (FOP)/ Theory and Science (TAS), and MRCPCH Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP), which they take in whichever order they prefer, as well as an in-person MRCPCH Clinical Examination. The Clinical Examination consists of 10 different stations ranging across Short Clinical, Development, History, Communication, and Video stations.
The eligibility criterion for all three theory exams, including the MRCPCH AKP is a Primary Medical Qualification.
Similar to the FOP/TAS, candidates must have an RCPCH Online Account for booking the MRCPCH AKP examination. From your RCPCH online account you can follow the below steps to book an AKP exam seat.
