What is MRCPCH?

The Membership of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health is a prestigious PG certification from the RCPCH, the governing body of Pediatricians in the UK. Recognised worldwide as a leader in Child Healthcare, their coveted certification is considered a stepping stone for global medical practice, as well as higher specialty training, etc. It consists of three theory papers and a final Clinical Examination test. The certification is divided into MRCPCH Foundation of Practice (FOP)/ Theory and Science (TAS), and MRCPCH Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP), which they take in whichever order they prefer, as well as an in-person MRCPCH Clinical Examination. The Clinical Examination consists of 10 different stations ranging across Short Clinical, Development, History, Communication, and Video stations.

To sit the MRCPCH Clinical Exam, candidates must

  • Have completed and passed all three theory parts of the exam, namely MRCPCH FOP/TAS, and MRCPCH AKP.
  • All MRCPCH Clinical Examination candidates must provide details of a Sponsor who can vouch for the readiness of the candidate to take the exam. This could be a clinical supervisor, or a fellow RCPCH member.
