MRCPCH FOP/TAS 2026: Eligibility criteria
- Must hold a valid primary medical qualification accepted by the General Medical Council.
- PMQ must be eligible for GMC registration or recognised by GMC if awarded overseas.
About MRCPCH FOP/TAS
The MRCPCH FOP/TAS is one of the three theory exams you must successfully complete in order to achieve the coveted RCPCH membership. The theory exams (FOP/TAS and AKP) can be taken in any order. Even though there is no sequential order, most of the candidates take FOP/TAS first, as it helps build a strong base in paediatric knowledge.
Foundation of Practice (FOP)
Exam mode: Computer-based
Number of Questions: 100 single best answer (SBA) questions
Duration: 2 hours
Theory and Science (TAS)
Exam mode: Computer-based
Number of Questions: 100 SBA questions
Duration: 2 hours
You can take both FOP and TAS on the same day. FOP is conducted in the morning, followed by TAS in the afternoon.
